The Carrigaline & District Lions Club today announced its plans to host the first Pink-a-Porter Fashion Show in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland. The fashion show will be held in the Carrigaline Court Hotel on Thursday the 8th of March at 8pm.

Upon arrival guests will be treated to a complimentary drinks reception sponsored by West Coast Cooler followed by music on the night from The Fallen Drakes; one of Ireland’s most promising new bands and winners of the RTE Breakthrough Award 2011. The Fallen Drakes made history in March 2011 by becoming one of Ireland’s first unsigned bands to play Dublin’s O2 Arena in front of 13,000 people when they supported The Commitments on their sell-out reunion show.

Guests on the night will have the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes sponsored by local businesses in Carrigaline. There is also a Best Dressed Lady competition so fashionistas are encouraged to dress to impress! The main sponsor of the event is Moore’s Jeweler’s, Ireland’s leading independent fine jewellers.

The show will be presented by PJ Coogan from Cork 96FM and will feature Spring Summer collections from Fran & Jane, Oasis, Coast, French Connection, Monsoon, Karla’s, Gabrielles’ Fashions and many more. The Holman Lee Modelling Agency will coordinate the event and hair will be done by RETRO, Carrigaline.

“We are delighted to work with Breast Cancer Ireland to help raise funds for this worthy cause” said John Doran President of the Carrigaline & District Lions Club. “Breast Cancer Ireland is a wonderful charity that works tirelessly to raise funds, awareness and support for new breast cancer research. They rely heavily on charitable investment to stem the tide of this disease and we are only too happy to help where we can. We urge all the ladies in Carrigaline (and fashion-conscious gentlemen) to join us on the night to make the evening a massive success”.

Aisling Hurley, Director of Development at Breast Cancer Ireland said “Events like this are super in heightening awareness of the importance of research in advancing a cure for breast cancer in Ireland. Working collaboratively with the cancer centres in Cork, Limerick Waterford and Dublin, provides a much larger sample pool from which to conduct research, thereby helping speed up discovery and ultimately affecting more positive outcomes for patients. We aim to transform Breast Cancer from often being a fatal disease to a chronic illness that can be maintained long-term through treatment” She added “Breast Cancer can affect women of all ages and therefore it is important for young and old to be breast aware

Tickets may be purchased for €15 from Moore’s Jeweler’s Carrigaline and the Carrigaline Court Hotel. Limited VIP runway tickets are also available for €25.

The Carrigaline & District Lions Club would like to thank its main sponsors of the show Moores Jewellers Carrigaline and The Carrigaline Court Hotel.
